The best thing about working from home is being accompanied by a sexy bassline. I knonw I haven’t been posting a lot of music lately, but you haven’t forgotten about beautiful Jasmine or provocative Kixnare, have you?
I’m sitting next to the open doors of my terrace and it’s raining outside. The smell, the calm, the bliss!
The huge smile on my face when dancing to along to the electronic madness of the Nicaraguan band Momotombo yesterday must have been very revealing, a live concert was exactly what my whole body had been longing for!
Momotombo plays an energetic electronic fusion of something that sounds like post-rock, jazz, funk and sampled beats from random songs. The atmosphere was really, really good and people were completely letting go and dancing their heads off. The concert was set up in the bar that has become my favourite here in the city, Uruk Kalli, a place that features artistic vibes, interesting details, and a very pleasant evening breeze.
Also, obvious highlight of the night, I got to play with my new camera.
Oh, and apparently I forgot to set the video settings, so you’re getting this in low-res. Sorry about that! :)
I have been trying to convince a friend to eat cleaner and better until I finally managed to get him on board for a detox challenge. No sugar, no gluten, no dairy products, no alcohol, no nasties. A lot of water, a lot of green stuff, a lot of natural niceness. I’m doing this for moral support more than anything else, as dairy products, gluten and sugar mostly are excluded from my diet already. Anyway, I’m looking forward to haing a good excuse to not drink that cup of coffee – which I suddenly have started to get used to, not have that sweet, perfect cookie, and just eat a lot of greens – I’m supporting a friend!
Starting tomorrow, that is – this can of pure evil is still okay tonight.
Perfectly off-topic: Here’s some dreamy Kokeshi Doll for you from LA based Mark Redito, the genius calls himself Spazzkid.
Remember the Brazilian MC Flora Matos that I met last year? She just released a new song a month ago, and her talent for simple, personal and beautiful lyrics filled with little metaphors and an overwhelming presence struck me with awe once again.

“Eu fico iluminada assim, nem me enxergo
Com você perto de mim não tem papo
Eu quero a vida inteira assim e não nego
Basta te encontrar, eu, você e o universo
Pra manter nosso clima assim, tão direto
Seu perfume é um soul, com essência de afeto“
– His scent is soul with an essence of affection

“Quando você parte leva junto a minha paz, machuca o coração pensar que a gente pode não se ver mais, não se ter mais.
Me diz como faz pra te ter mais..
.
Thought I’d also share this behind the scenes video that Flora’s friend DJ Naomi made while we were producing a song in a hotel room on a very unplanned Monday evening with Timbuktu and the band. Flora was warm, sweet and very charming, all with a little of that intriguing rapper edge.

Here’s a song I always need to have close by.
It has the deepest and sweetest bass out there and I haven’t gotten tired of it since first hearing it in 2009. You know it’s real.

I have found my spot. Working on a proper screen makes life so much more beautiful and easy. Extended display, high resolution, I can stay here forever.
Bonobo keeps me company, all I need now is somebody to bring me food.
Beautifully filmed by Swedish Jesper Bolmén, this piece from 2011 manages to capture my exact impression and experience of life in a surfer’s paradise. Tobago, Tamarindo, Tofo. Palm trees.

By the way, guess what, more surprises – that field trip that I didn’t get on my flight for today got cancelled three hours later due to external reasons. So if I had gotten a seat, I would have just had to travel straight back anyway.
Being surprised is one of the most interesting feelings out there and I adore the fact that life keeps doing this to me.
The reggae artist El General from Panama is often referred to as the father of reggae in Spanish. During the early 1990’s he initiated the Spanish spoken dancehall, the beginning of what we today know as reggaeton.
This song is very often played in the clubs, shops and restaurants around here and when people dance to it they start cheering and throw their hands up in the air. There’s mostly a screen around as well, and I just had to share this video – it’s the Central American MC Hammer!
Danced to the fantastic voice and souly vibes of mega-talented and charismatic Allen Stone and his band yesterday at Babel here in Malmö. Ah, the euphoria! Live music is one of my top favourite things in the world, especially when played in an intimate place like this where I can come up close, breathe the lyrics in, and dance my mind off.
Videos and photos below. Enjoy!
Oh, come on. Boost it up to 1080p HD, already!———–
And here’s an absolutely fantastic cover of Bob Marley’s “Is this love?” – it is!
If you are into soul music and ever get a chance to see this guy live, do it. It’s like getting on a ride all the way back to the golden years of Motown. Goosebumps guaranteed.
