Limbo

Still in Malmö but not really. Today I’m detached, floating in my own reality that suddenly feels very empty. This place feels like it’s in between worlds, lost between realities, quiet.
The weather is amazing and people are enjoying at barbecues and in the parks. I’m happy for them while packing my bags.

Malmö

You know you’re in Malmö when you drink non alcoholic Dubai beer with your Kurdish-Polish and Indian-Iranian girls.

Today I went with my family to our traditional Easter church visit where we met a big part of the Polish community of the city, later on I met these two lovely girls and then I did some shopping with an Albanian friend and took a short drive around town with a Croatian-Bosnian friend. It’s only now that I realize how incredibly international this city is and how much I am enjoying the mix of backgrounds that my friends have. You learn so much about culture from it and it just comes as a natural part of the friendship!

It’s nice to be back for some days, the weather is incredible and people are happy and out on the streets so I’ve been bumping into random friends all day which has been a lot of fun.

Tonight we go out dancing and I’m looking forward to meet more darlings!

Happy Easter everybody! :)

Music for Airports

Blocking out the world with in ear headphones and looking at airport people. The time between check-in and boarding has always been where I observe the world and think about my current location. It’s like a vacuum where neither time or place exists.

I have been thinking about the past when I wanted spring to last forever and dreamt about never ending Sundays in my Barcelona bed.
As my last days have been filled with thinking I have found myself in a new conclusion. The summer sun and the colours of autumn are just as needed as my Mondays with the overambitious to-do lists and the Saturdays I dance away. Spring and Sundays might bring a lot of beauty, but why choose only that?

As always, my iPod shuffles. The soundtrack of this moment is Brian Eno’s 1/1 from the album Ambient 1:Music for airports. So yes, even if you don’t believe in the magic of coincidences, they can still be enjoyed. ;)

Boarding time. Get ready for me Malmö – there will be a lot of hugging, fika, dancing and talking!

Press? Sure!

Yesterday we worked until 3am to finish our articles and meet the deadline, it was good fun at the office apart from the fact that I had to be hopping out of bed four hours later. I’m working here at the Catalonia Model United Nations as staff, reporter, photographer, translator and a lot of other random things – and I’m having great amounts of fun. The event lasts until Saturday evening and we are printing a daily newspaper where we report on what has happened during the day and what been discussed in the different commissions. I am responsible of covering the Security Council which I find very interesting – and the ongoing debates are on fire!

The thing I think I like most about the working part is that that there always is some kind of deadline that keeps the adrenaline on top at all times, making the whole day a bit stressful, but above all stimulating and fun. Besides working you get to meet interesting people the whole day, and the team itself is great – we are having a lot of fun with all the cheesy word games that you have to master when writing catchy headlines and twisted endings. Tomorrow morning the heat is on again and I think I might need to get some redbull! Pressure? Oh, C’mun!

Let me introduce..

I have only known my new housemate Daneff for about ten days but I have grown very fond of her in this short time, she’s a psychologist so we share a lot of strange analytical interests, we also share meals and great conversations and I am really appreciating her company.

So, when Daneff and her Argentinian buddy Martín were here Monday night, getting ready to leave for Sevilla, Daneff took the responsibility of introducing me to this new friend and it went, traduced to english, like this:

“She’s Polish but she doesn’t drink beer, she lives in Sweden but she always thinks it’s cold.. and she’s supposed to be European but she’s warm, close and loving like a Latina.”

Haha.. Nice summary, Daneff. Ya ven, te extraño!

Synology

If there’s one thing I am happily addicted to, it’s gadgets. I’m a complete nerd when it comes to all kinds of electronical devices and now I have decided that I desperately need another thing, a NAS Server. I mean – seriously, how could I not have one?

Gosh, I would have access to all my things, everywhere. I could back up my photos and important data while travelling, I could stream stuff to my phone and computer, and most importantly – my things would always be safely backed up with double copies. No more harddrive failure paranoia. Considering the amount of time I am spending moving around, and the amount of data I am producing that I really don’t want to lose – it’s the perfect solution..

And come on, just look at it, isn’t it beautiful?

Well, you can never argue with the people at epipheostudios.com anyway, they are the masters of explaining!
